Things I like:
Demigods are for the most part balanced.
Each character has its own unique feel and play style.
The creep spawns are well balanced.
Citadel upgrades parallel character progression.
Fog of War provides unlimited ganking oppurtunities.
Things I dont like:
The Prison Map is far too small; especially when playing against a team of Regulus' who camp at the Health Crystal and snipe all day long.
The duration of stuns should not exceed 3 seconds. This is a broken and often abused game mechanic due to its overpowered nature. I would choose to swap Stunning abilities for Dazing abilties.
Item selection at the shop is quite limited, abilites granted by items need diversification. IE more DIFFERENT abilities, and MORE items availible for purchase.
When multiplaying the opposing side should choose its own AI's and AI characters NOT the hosting player.
Character abilties NEED to be DIVERSIFIED and MULTIPLIED as there is much more to a game than nuking, stunning, maiming, lifestealing, debuffs and buffing. While these abilites can and do exist, different flavors of the same ability can and should be created.
Mageblade is useless, unless using Unclean Beast equipped with a flamecloak, unmaker, and your choice of speed glove. Stun should be increased to .7 secs in my opinion and lifesteal replaced with manaburn. Mageblade is not Ashkander.
The battlefields seem, well seem, TOO FLAT and BARREN and UNEVENTFUL. Perhaps some obstructions aside from holes which could influence line of sight OR some slight 3-D terrain OR weather/atmospheric effects. Eg: a river that gushed at regular intervals to slow/damage/push creeps or demigods that crossed it at the wrong time.
Lack of creep item creation. Eg: Wouldnt it be cool to give your troops a battering ram to assault the towers and forts with? Or Damage over time fire arrows?
LACK OF DEMIGOD SELECTION, UNDER 10 characters wont cut it.
u should be able to personalize your demigod with the skill tree. Well, with a level cap of 25 pretty much every Demigod will wind up being 96% like the other duplicate Demigod. Period.
Connectivity issues in multiplayer games
Rook's towers lack a sufficient hitpoint base.
Assassins and Generals are exactly the same.
People who whine about Oaks resurection ability. He is, after all, the ONLY Demigod without a stun. Note: after killing Oak: RUN!!!
At level 25 it almost seems impossible to kill anyone one on one without them running/blinking away. Note I said 1 on 1.
I agree with all of your points, especially the lack of selection. Sorry to draw another dota comparison, but with dota's 90+ heroes, the gameplay is usually pretty fresh. With 8 heroes (and from my experience, those heroes aren't that significantly deeper than the Dota heroes - each has between 1-3 effective builds for early levels). Unfortunately, making demigods is very expensive. At the very least, they should add a bunch more skills with a tree selection, thus forcing you to focus on a certain style of play. Lastly, the demigods generally converge into a single build - this is the same as DoTA.
Generals was supposed to add a lot of variety to the game but right now, I'm feeling that they haven't exactly figured out how they're going to do that yet. Hopefully by the next build, generals will play radically different from assassins and require radically different strategies.
For my own taste (I can't speak on behalf of everyone else), I need variety and freshness in my gameplay. I'll probably get bored if I'm doing the same thing all the time. An exception to this is a FPS, because that 'thing' is twitch/skill based so you're always trying to improve yourself. If Demigod can throw in aspects that require precision, timing, and skill on the player's part, I won't mind only having 8 demigods.
