Hi, I'm consiering buying Galactic Civilizations II as I'm a huge fan of Civilization and have been looking for a good sci-fi 4X game for awhile now. The thing is, i have a Macintosh loaptop. It's the newest model MacBook Pro, and below are it's specifications:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
L2 Cache: 2 MB
RAM: 2 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M GT
VRAM: 256 MB
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (through Bootcamp)
I may also eventually upgrade to 4 GB of RAM, but that probably won't be for awhile.
Now, the question that still stands, is will GalCivII run (preferably very well) on my laptop? As I said above, I'll be using Windws XP through bootcamp to run the application, and from prior experience this works really well. I understand that, as with most PC games, there are many variables such as texture detail, lighting and map size that affect the game's performance. Assume that I would be playing of medium to high graphics settings on a medium to large galaxy with 3-4 AI players.
I ask this question because I really want to know prior to buying the game whether or not I can expect a reliable playing experience. I have bought games in the past which are laggy and run poorly on my computers (mainly past laptops), and I have no interest in making the same mistakes again. By looking at the game's recommended system requirements, itwould seem the game should run fine, but system requirements have betrayed me before, so I am wary.
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply!
