Its nice to have the map editor but it can be frustrating to use.
I'm currently putting together a Star Wars map, basically as many systems from Star Wars will be in it, but its difficult when the editor crashes half the time, or the fact its difficult to work out what a planet will look like (visually) unless you open the game up. Plus no option to choose gas giants 
Still, I think its better than some editors that have been given out with games.
