Well, you can just reinstall the game. I did that once, when an expansion to a game was so terrible that i just had to uninstall or stop playing it. But on the other hand, i would appreciate all games having a little checkbox thing that could disable patches.

FYI, if that ever does happen, disabling patches will most likely not allow you to play online.

well seeing as how people with the expansion can prob. play against people without it, i think there might be new options, though it prob. wont be one check box, you can prob. manually diasable the entrenchhment feats..

From the way it's been described, it sounds like Entrenchment will turn itself off when playing against people without it.

If only it were that simple.

Entrenchment people can only see entrenchment games, and 1.12 people can only see 1.12. so you cant joing vanilla sins.

2 installs is the only way to play both atm. I think it will be switchable when its out of beta.

Cool, but how about this:

It's a few months down the road and both my friend and I have the expansion.  We want to "play vanilla" for a night just to switch it up.  Do we need to have installed copies of Sins that aren't updated or can we toggle the expansion in our updated versions?  Sure, we can "play vanilla" against people who dont' have the expansion, but what about a head-to-head for people who do?

I only ask because my friend is concerned that Entrenchment might make games longer and cause him to switch up his honed-in strategies.  We both welcome change and new strategic twists of the expansion, but we also like having the option to scale back, even after we've scaled forward.
