I've been considering buying a copy of Solar Empire, but before I do, I wanted to see if anyone could let me know if there is any significant difference between the version you can download from Impulse and the one that you can buy from a retail location. For instance, if I were to buy the Digital edition, it would download a copy to my computer and, as I understand it, i would be able to delete that and download it again at some point in the future whenever I felt like - rather like Steam, where once you have a game in your "library," you can always access it.
How exactly does it work with the Retail hard-copy edition? Can I register it online and get access to the same downloading ability? That is, once I buy the game, bring it home, install it, and register it, will it be basically the same as if I had bought the digital version? If I were to uninstall it, would it be possible to download it in the future instead of having to go looking for the box? Does Impulse even make any distinction between a "digital" one and a retail copy once the game has been installed and registered?
Thanks for the help!
