Can 2 or More players can Choose the same Heroes

As for dota, I've seen as much rp as ap tournaments, but this is maybe because I'm in france, I don't know. All I know is that the eswc dota tournament won by sk gaming was all pick, and we can't say this is some little tournament. If there was a real balance problem, they wouldn't have done that.

My references were to show that when given a choice people will pick the most exploitable possibilities. Having multiples of a character only leads to abuse of certain characters. The game would have to be impossibly balanced for that not to happen. Again, key word impossibly.

Also I would like to honor you in the fact that many DotA tournaments for cash are played with AP. People don't like betting on random. But most TDA games (official dota league) are draft of some sort either random or single.

Draft still lets you pick.

But draft wouldn't work the same in Demigod because of fewer heroes.

Draft in Dota is dropping down the 91 heroes to 3 or 20(or however many options you have in RD.)

Otherwise RD is just the same as AP except it makes people go in order instead of who clicks first.

Yes taking turns picking, not decrease the number and then pick, and RANDOM draft is what you describe first, the normal draft method is taking turns picking.

And how can you say anything based on the number of demigods? Do you have the number? Hell, do you have even an official estimate?

In random draft it picks RANDOM HEROES which you pick from.

And DotA has multible heroes to fill multiple roles. There are numberous nukers, numberous healers, numberous support classes, numberous tanks.

Will Demigod for sure have two nukers, so each team can have one? Torchbearer is one. We know of no other nuker.

We only know of one healer, Sedna, too.

So one team could get both the nuker and healer, and the other team doesn't?

Unique would be HARDER to balance. NOT easier. Keep it out of ranked matches is all I'm saying.

It's true, we might not have them in the beta. For all we know when the full game comes out it will have 30+ heroes.

Please, as little same hero mods as possible.

From my point of view there are two sides to this.

First of all it's the developer's duty to make sure that it will not be smart to pick the same hero (your fav) against different lineups.That means to balance them properly

And secondly, the more each player has to play with different heroes the better he gets at the game as opposed to picking the same hero = better at playing that hero.

Well, in an XvX game (X>1) you pick what's needed. If it just so happens that you need the same demigod that someone on the other team already has, then I say screw uniqueness.

Of course, in a 1v1 none of this BS matters and it's just pure skill, in which case uniqueness REALLY doesn't matter.

If only one Demigod will have an AoE stun or something similar (like: enemy units unable to attack for x seconds), it would be just imba.

So you could argue then: don´t create a demigod with AoE stun.

But in the unique game mode, it would be nice to have something like that

Great example! Stun locks would be so imba if you could pick the same hero. If you've played DotA, imagine 5 rooftrellens on a team using their ult. Let alone if they had an refresher orb.

And on the other point of uniqueness:

"What if some one on the other team picks the aoe stun and we need one too?"

Thats why if there are lot of demigods, there could be another aoe stun, or you could pick some one immune to it (flying?) or an assassin that can kill/disable him with out it being able to go off.

Or magnataur, aoe stun that pulls them to geather with less cd then rootfelleon, shockwave, with cleave as an ability. Thats 3000 damage with spells alone to evreyone involved (evrey enemy) you get evrey one in that and gg.

What if inestead of AoE stun it is AoE freeze and the frozen enemies only take 50% or 25% damage while frozen?

It would work more to keep soeone still for longer than normal so allies and catch up, or you can run away, then an easy kill..

Yeah, in DotA there is WAY too many freaking stuns and imba stuns.

Ok, if the aoe stuff does only have freeze.

We will still have 5 demigods with mass freeze. Don´t like it. If only one demigod does have it, the other team can focus on this demigod, for instance hex him or silence him (assuming that there will be such skills in Demigod), wouldn't be such a problem in my opinion.

... AGAIN!!! With the TF2 analogies! It has absolutely NO bearing on demigod, they are different genres, made by different companies, with different technical architectures, with different art styles, with different game play concepts (duh... THEY'RE COMPLETLY DIFFRENT GENRES!!!!), the only thing they have in common is it's a team based game (and completely different on the specifics), with pretty graphics!
