i dislike the in game editor for one reason...your home planet (and neighoring asteroid) are always 100 thousand trillion miles away from the rest of the map and i find this irritatingly irritating. it takes like...5 min for your ships to traverse this void and by the time culture connects the games over...even on a large map. no settings i change have ever changed this
Five minutes? Try 50.
Well, all I've got to say is, ?????????
I use the in-game Map Designer for every single game I play, and I have no idea what you're complaining about.
Try two things:
1: At the top of the designer screen, make sure Map Size is turned all the way down, to the left, in the red. This controls distance between stars, as well as the scale of the entire map.
2: At the bottom of the designer screen, for each star, make sure the Orbit Radius is turned all the way down, to the left, in the red. This controls how far away from a star planets, etc., are.
Both of these settings should be the default, but from the way you're talking, they're obviously not.
I just ran a test by making a brand-new custom map, changing absolutely no settings, started a game using SLOW ship speeds, and started a game. I jumped a ship to the planet
furthest from my homeworld, and it took 23 seconds to arrive. Remember, that's with the ship speeds set to slow.
So, something is wrong on your end. Let me know what it turns out to be, because I'm curious.
