The patch notes don't show how they added extra resources on planets, which offsets the price increase. In fact I will say that it negates it entirely and its more of a boost than anything. IF they would of increased the drone hosts cost without adding the extra resources on planets then it would of been a flat out nerf. Now the advent drone hosts are about the same price as the other two factions, which isn't to bad. Especially since you get them early.And to those saying drone hosts are useless, you must not have seen a swarm of them following Rapture with concentration aura. They down targets pretty quick and they are fast. I don't think they are to be taken lightly in big numbers.

Increased reasons gives you more for building Heavy Cruisers too.

Jesus christ I hate to even have to point this out, but I know some people will read what you said and take it seriously because they can't think rationally for themselves.

Does it look like I'm joking? So what that you can build more heavy cruisers? Thats not my point, the point is that the drone host cost increase isn't to bad. If you don't agree with what I said, I can care less. But the fact of the matter is the price increase is unnoticeable due to the extra resources.

I played two games as advent this morning and had a total blast, each unit did exactly what they were supposed to and my team dominated. 2 advent 1 tec, vs 2 tec 1 advent, but it was a pub game... either way I think advent are great now. The extra resources helped as well.

Rushing for heavy cruisers is stupid anyway, 25-30 illums + 10-15 diciples will easily take down heavy cruisers, and by then you can start pumping out your own heavies... which is what happened this morning, one of the players rushed straight for the cruisers... He got them out faster than me but his productin was too slow to fend off my larger fleet.

Aye. I played Monk in a 2v2, both my ally and Monk (retaliatory) rushed Kodiaks, but I was able to take out a much larger Kodiak fleet with Illums. Sometimes people complain, but they're easily countered and I see them as little capital ships with similar firepower and weaknesses.

You haven't successfully countered heavies with LRM/Illums? It's one of the more straightforward counters..

You really didn't explain what you were saying. Telling someone it's funny to hear what they're saying without actually explaining why is rather pointless, care to elaborate?

hmm weird.
in my 1.04 game last night I finally attacked an hard AI TEC after 4 hours of trying to stay alive against that bastard.

he had his fleet capacy maxed where i only researched it to about 3/4 that size.
judging by his fleet setup i'd say he researched at least to tier 5 but i cannot be certain of that.
my hostility-research was almost at max.

so there he had a fortified planet, 3 capital ships ~level 5 about 200 ships and 45 fighter squadrons.

i jumped in with my 6 capital ships (6x level 10 + lvl 6 - one of each and 2x radiance) and my 150 ships or so and totally annihilated his fleet in under 2 minutes without losing a single ship.

advent has its weakness in early game but once properly researched is a deadly weapon - especially with fully upgraded cap ships

I really don't understand people's comments about "Oh the cost for carriers increasing is ok, because we have more resources overall now and its almost un-noticeable".

People, think for a second. Any cost in a game is a RELATIVE opportunity cost. Sure you can still put that unit out, but is it an efficient use of your resources? If it is NOT, someone who DOES use his resources more efficiently will have a BETTER fleet. Which means you lose, unless you have a higher economy. The question then becomes, are carriers an efficient use of resources RELATIVE to other units (not to how much you have total). The answer, in my opinion, is no.

I stopped using the Aeria Drone Host with 1.04 and really haven't missed them. They always seemed to me as something of a liability being thin skinned and usually the main target of an AI fleet. Anyway, I agree that the return on investment for carriers seems pretty low. Nowadays, I just used the air wing provided by Capital ships.

This is how it's always been.

However, in a multiplayer game, Advent has a huge weakness with moving this super fleet around and defending.

Why fight this super fleet head on when you can go around or past it while it can't keep with?
