Hey there Ironclad and Stardock, dont take this the wrong way b/c I mean it in a good way, but did your game deisners & software programmers somehow figure out how to install crack-coaine into a program, so it could be injected slowly into its users? Seriously, this game has been keeping me up for hours since the day I bought it!
Iv played lots of games, since thats what I do for a living and a hobby, and this has to be the better or the best strategy game to come out in the last few years, if not the last several.
I really enjoy it, it is simple enough to not get over blown by the depth, but deep enough to make it a through strategy and tactics game. And Future/Space Sci-Fi genre to boot!
Hands down, in my opinion, the best strategy game to come out since Starcraft. I was a big player of Starcraft, and a "professional" tourney Zerg player for a few years, I can really say that im enjoying this one.
Iv been able to still be a big player of a lot of the major strategy games in recent years despite my schedules, Supreme Commander being my most recent addiction (of course Total Annihilation & Starcraft before that), and it still surprises me how simple & complex this game is simultaniously compared to those games. To me, that makes Sins stand out.
I think that the design focus on real time and turn based was a great idea, and hopefully there will be more like it in the future to allow bigger scale games, such as SoaSE.
It has an thoughtfull and simple UI, which is a huge thing I think a lot of game dev's pass up when they make a strategy/tactics game, and it really shows how important it is to the game genre in Sins. Little things like the auto-building-placer keep your focus on the action, while you can still disable it and design a better fortified planet in no time. I understand that certian games cant do this, but its a great addition that keeps the game moving forward so it doesnt turn into a Sim-City game suddenly during an assault. That can be very annoying in other games.
Not that this game isnt without minor flaws, but to have a game be good enough for a user to be able to play and be addicted to it, and totally forget about the flaws AND have fun, is a very big deal.
Thanks a lot, bravo!
