Culture Questions

Reach and Effect on Allies?

I just had a couple of questions about culture, first does the reach only extend as far as one phase lane? For instance I have a chokepoint that touches a star which then touches onto several enemy planets. If I build the broadcasters will they reach past the star onto the other planets, or would this be useless?

Also will culture cause allies' planets to revolt? I don't want to go to war with my ally but a couple of his planets are looking tantalizing so I thought that might be a peaceful way to take them.

I'm not sure about this one, I've had recent problems where I've built those little telecommunication broadcaster doohikies and regardless of the situation, if any of them are touching my ally's planets, or even plenty of them, they seem to be VERY upset with me, and kill me maybe 2 hours later. HAHA.

But I dont think its directly related? Perhaps its just me hogging all the planets for myself, and letting my ally die. I'm so evil.

culture should keep spreading until it's meet by opposing culture or a opposing capital ship.

not sure how culture works with allies, though i doubt it would affect alligence as you suggest.

Yes, culture keeps spreading through several jumps, though each jump decreases the speed of that spread.

As far as allies, it "competes", but boosts ally allegiance anyway. It doesn't do anything harmful to your allies. This was changed from beta because it would give your allies the "can't colonize due to culture" messages if they lost a planet they owned that was under your influence. Oops
