ok, well first off im new to the forum, so hi and I hope someone here can help me..

Now I'm sure some of my questions are answered in other post's, but none of my searches turned anything up. Also, for the most part I'm new to modding, altho I have done some minor things in the past to other games, so once I get the idea, things happen pritty quick for me and I learn what to do fast...

So basically I got this game, played a few rounds, and wanted to mod it out. since it's newish I know there arnt alot of mods for it, so I figured it was the best time to learn how to do it for my self. I have the mod tools that are found here to download, but there are just some things I cant seem to figure out.

One thing is I would like to add a new race. if possible keep the old race's, but I want to build this race up from scratch. pick and choose ships, and give them all there own abilities and what not. Problim is I cant figure out how to add a race. if I just completly copy all of one race and rename it would it come up as another race in the game?

Also I would like to learn how to combine mods. I have a few that I downloaded such as no pirates, added hanger space, ect. but with having to copy the whole gamerinfo file, its hard to tell what files they changed. is there any easy way to tell what ones were changed or not? or am I going to have to hunt thru all the files and try to find them myself?

I guess thats about it for now. If I can figure out those things, they should keep me entertained for a day or two...
