sad about twilight's price

Let me start off by saying this is NOT a flame. I bought gal civ when it came out, i bought dark avatar when it came out and ill buy twilight when it comes out (also bought Sins). I absolutely love the game Stardock makes.

However... my gripe is for early adopters

Ultimate pack costs 60$.

Stand alone DA + Twilight cost 55$. I mean, i dont mind paying for great games... but its unfortunate the bundle price is so cheap compared to what i would have paid when all is said and done being an early adopter.

Am i way off base in expecting a discounted price having already bought the game?

You can get TA by itself for $24.95 here, though it's down the page a bit, or here. It seems you've already been to the first page...I'm leaving the above in my post just in case you've missed TA separate somehow. I do believe DA is required for it (might not be, can't remember), but you say you have that already, so that shouldn't be relevant.

Am I missing something? Ultimate Bundle Pack is DL+DA+TA, at ~$60. That's ~$75 if done all separately, or ~$70 if done DL+DA Bundle + TA separate, or ~$65 if done DA + TA Bundle + DL separate.

I bought gal civ 2 when it first came out (its dropped in price).
I thought it was like 40$?

Retail GalCiv2: 40
DA: 30
Twilight: 25

So that 95$ vs 60$ for someone who picks it up today. I know i'm quibbling over 40 bucks but still

As kryo says. As an early adopter you are paying a premium to be the first kid on the block playing. If I buy C&C3 Kane's Wrath the day it launches, I'll pay full price. If I wait for 2-3 weeks, I'll get somewhere for $10 less. It's just like a movie - pay full ticket when it debuts or wait until it hits DVD and pay less.

I'm not made of money, but I'll probably pay $60 for the ultimate bundle and I already own DL and DA.

Take my money, Stardock. Just keep making/publishing the games that you do and I'll keep throwing you everything I can scrap together.

Look at it this way. They have to make a profit to continue to develop good games. If they dont make a profit we all lose.

There is NO way someone is going to pay $90 for a PC game. Not going to happen. So they would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they sold the bundled package for that much.

I will pay $25 for an expansion pack to a game that I already own and love playing.

They are just being smart and trying to sell it to as many people as they can at a price that people are comfortable paying. Its just good buisness sense and like I said we all benefit from this.

@obi: unless there's something I don't know about in the Ultimate Pack why would you buy it if you already have DL and DA? You can get just TA for a 1/3 of that price. And it automatically gets added with the rest of GCII.

Besides throwing money at Stardock for no good reason (which, for some, may be enough reason in itself), I will be happy to not have to go through Stardock Central anymore than I have to. I registered DL at one email address and then DA at another. I've since moved jobs so TA will be under yet another email address. I'll just get my bundle, and any manuals that (hopefully) come with it, and be happy knowing that I'm helping stuff the stockings of all the Brads, Frogboys, Kyros, and Elfs over at SD

The bundle is priced to attract new customers. Every company needs new blood since not all their current customers will buy the expansions. If Twilight were a standalone game that expanded on GCII and DA then I could see offering a discount to people who bought those titles but it isn't. In the long run it will come out to pennies per hour of entertainment. One of the best bargains on this or any other planet.

Belanos!! Long time no see, and yeah, original poster, you paid a premium to be first to use the product. Supply and Demand baby. No one is forcing you to buy anything. Also, I bet there are some wow-a-holics out there that would pay $4000 for wrath of the lich king. $90 is what? less than 3 tanks of gas with a cheap car these days? 4 trips to a resturaunt?

Heck, $90 is approaching a fill-up on my old Jeep Wrangler (18 gallons plus 1.8 reserve tank)

Excuse me!! your complaining about the price drop of a game that is over 2 years old(gc2DL--feb 2006)and the price drop of a game that is over a year old (GC2DA--feb 2007) games that you have played for from 1-2 years before this drop in price ! Which game bundles by the way is a good merchanting tool to sell older out of the lime light games which is a sale most likely missed because it is an older game as we gamers are more likely to buy a newest and greatest hyped game than a true and tried older game!!!

Yeah I haven't been playing the game much so I don't come around here very often anymore. It's always hard for me to play a game when I know there's a better version available, or soon to be. I just wish they'd change their policy of online only for getting TA though as getting anything online is a bit problematic for me. I'd much rather go through my local EB Games. I don't quite understand their rationale frankly. They already have the Gold Edition out on the shelves, why not just replace it with a Platinum version?
