Ok I love the game, love multiplayer. Need some bugs ironed out, which have been talked about plenty, and some small balance tweaks. But Cap ships really need some help.
I love the idea of having big ships giving your fleet's some serious menace. Cap ships are actually very balanced. That is, they are very balanced in the early game. Late game, in any kind of map over small, they simply are a waste of resources (outside of a few special abilities). You put this awesome feature in the game of having large rare ships that level up and are *supposed* to give that extra edge to your fleets and they become less and less of a factor as time goes on. Late game you can have a high level Cap ship that gets popped before you can even turn it around by massed frigs!
I don't want this to become a cap ship race or cap wars by any means. I don't think anyone playing the game competetively does. But you spend all game leveling this ship up using your skills to keep it alive and then don't dare to bring it too far into the gravity well late game assaulting a planet for fear you won't be able to turn it around in time to get it out. There should be plenty of risk taking it into battle, but a ship that's leveled up to higher levels shouldn't be such a micro liability.
Keep newly built Cap ships just as they are, so people aren't just popping them out and hammering away. Late game they'll still take quite a bit of micro to keep them safe, but make that ship or two ships that you've spent all game working to level actually have some teeth to it. So if the enemy see's you have your leveled cap ship coming in to one of your front's it means something. I would say they should really scale on shield power and hull, and slightly scale over what's currently in place for attack power.
Thanks for listening.
