Soase Hosting game bug fix?

When will the game be updated to allow more then 10% of the community to host games?

Its an increasing problem and alot of people are becoming fustrated.

Its NOTHING to do with opening ports/static ip ETC ETC for alot of people.

all of the above may effect a small amount of people who do have ports etc blocked but for most who DO know how to configure a simple router it isnt.

Its a common game FLAW that will need to be sorted out.

I have seen that message from IronClad "...Most people will not be able to join your game...." everytime I've hosted since the first 2 or three games I hosted (and I haven't changed anything on my end). The games I host are still able to be joined by EVERYONE and everything works like a charm! What this means is, that IronClad have intruduced a "connection checking" method on their end which takes into consideration WAN ping, IDENT (maybe), open ports, etc. If you fail even one of those, their message pops up. While ping and ident are an easy way to see if a host is online or not, they're not required at all for the actual "connection process".

To re-cap, seeing that message from IronClad doesn't at all mean that it won't work. Ever since they setup their "connection-testing" I've been getting that message as well. I don't allow WAN ping or IDENT so I'm assuming that's why my setup "fails". In any case, I am able (and have many times now) to HOST without any issues whatsoever!

Yeah same here, get the message but am able to host just fine.

It IS however a serious issue.
A game focused so much on MP (not exclusively of course ...

*patting AI bashers*) such an issue right at release can be very disadvantageous.

I just made a post about ICO...it seems that many in the forum aren't as aware of it as people that wait in the lobbies of ICO are.

If you have a DSL or Cable modem, with or without a router you can host the game (with some research)...but if you have a LAN connection or an ISP that is somehow instituional (i.e. from an apartment complex, office, or dorm room or share it with a neighbor--you are not in control of your ISP) or one that assigns you a variable IP address you cannot open the ports or configure them to work with SOASE and ICO.

Other games can work with these types of connections, and like I said in my thread "Optimize ICO to Work Like Other Matchmaking Services" people will get frustrated and leave because for increasing numbers of buyers, ICO is half-complete. You can join, but you can't host...even when other players are begging people to host the same kind of game that you want to play.

Instead of waiting, I'll go play something else--and that's a shame for me, because this game is great.
