Ship Size MOD

Since I have no idea how to MOD this game. Can someone either make a MOD that makes the ships, planets, and suns much larger in size or tell me how to do it myself. I'm looking for Freespace 2 type sizes lol. I know that could be quite big, but i want to feel epic when a capital ship comes in to play.

Seems like a good opportunity to acquire some new skills. This game is really very easy to mod. If you really enjoy gaming then consider this a golden chance to get your feet wet with little headache.

Seems like a good opportunity to acquire some new skills. This game is really very easy to mod. If you really enjoy gaming then consider this a golden chance to get your feet wet with little headache.

I have actually spent a little time looking around for the entries to change for this. They are not in the individual ship entity files, or I would have had a version of it posted up for download by now.

In other news it really is very easy to mod. In fact I changed another thing that had bugged me with the squadron amounts, so just delve a little into it and you will find the game is NOT hard to edit at all.

So, where would I even start if I wanted to do something like this? Would I have to use 3DMax or Maya or something? I don't even know if those are real programs...

3DSMax or XSI probably. XSI is what they used for the retail game if I recall.

Please note: data modding and graphic modding are really very different things. The data side of the house for this game is very easy and does not require any special skills. The graphic side of things on the other hand is very daunting and has a steep skill set and cost associated with it. Food for thought...

Well, I downloaded XSI......yep, have no idea what i am doing. I have no idea how to get the models into the program, and even if I did get that to happen, I have no clue on how to make models bigger and put them in the game.

Well, I believe that back in ... beta 2 I think, the devs said that there will be a tool to allow scaling the ship at will.

I remember because I was the one who asked that.

Anybody if the above statement is true by the way. I'm not saying that the poster above is wrong, but I would like to know if the devs are planning on releasing a tool that will allow the user to change the size of the ships.

aye i 2nd tht comment, i too would like to change the size of ships but thts for the starwars mod ive been tweakin, i relly wish i hadnt started tho its a complete head****..

wotever happen to the good old coding where all you had to do was change the line 'scale : xxx.xxx' lol ive not tried it yet but tht wont happen to work with this will it ???

I think that the above 3 posters are a tad bit guilty of necrophilia: this thread turns 3 years old in a little over half a month. 

I must admit my suprise that such a rapid and effective response was given, even to a dead post. It's nowhere near the same with other games as old as, or even younger than this such as World in Conflict or Empire: Total War

The post is still relevant to the question so I like that the person actually tried to search for the information rather than just creating another post. Then the next person searching for the same information does not have to look through 50 posts.

I know, and I find that striking, again, compared to the blandness of other Large Online games like this that I play. I tried to find information about Trade Routes for E:TW and I spent 4 days searching throught the Shogun, Total War, Yoko, etc. Forums looking for an answer. Eventually I found links to a universal guide, but after 4 days of search I decided to never use Google or Search Forums for an answer to anything concerning those games again.

So again, my props to the gentlemen of Stardock, and please keep doing what you do.
