- More Game Speed Options is planned for patch version 1.03.
See that’s why I’m happy, these people in Ironclad and Stardock they really listen to the community.
Now it’s time for me to give a little back. The following are for those who want a workaround for game speed pre patch. I have also a workaround for those who want their own background music.
All this would probably be mush easier when a modding tools gets released I’m sure
Fist and VERY important – always do a backup of your original files before you messing around with them. Put them in a safe place so you always can copy back if anything goes wrong.Workaround - game speedThis I got from LoupGris, thanks mate!

Go to gameplay.constants in game-info folder and find this section:
gameSpeedData-SlowincomeGameSpeedScalar 0.0
shipBuildRateGameSpeedScalar 0.0
moduleBuildRateGameSpeedScalar 0.0
shipLinearMaxSpeedGameSpeedScalar 0.0
shipLinearAccelerationGameSpeedScalar 0.0
shipLinearDecelerationGameSpeedScalar 0.0
questCompleteHappinessDeltaScalar -0.50
cultureConnectionReferenceLength 250000Set negative values
As well as to this one
researchSpeedData-SlowresearchRateGameSpeedScalar -2.0- - - -
Thanks again LoupGris this info was pure gold for me

Open the file gameplay.constants with Notepad. These you see here are the standard in-game slow values. Follow some simple rules so you keep game balanced. Start with incomeGameSpeedScalar, this is your start reference. You put a value here and the following constants have to change to keep balance:
shipBuildRateGameSpeedScalar
moduleBuildRateGameSpeedScalar
shipLinearMaxSpeedGameSpeedScalar
cultureConnectionReferenceLength
researchRateGameSpeedScalarThe following two are not so important – I set these very low because I like the feel of space, slow acceleration/deceleration
shipLinearAccelerationGameSpeedScalar
shipLinearDecelerationGameSpeedScalarNow let’s make an example:
You set
incomeGameSpeedScalar -5.0 . . . then follow this as a rule of tomb( [value] = -5.0 ):
shipBuildRateGameSpeedScalar -3.3 ([value] / 1.5 = -3.3333…)
moduleBuildRateGameSpeedScalar -3.3 ([value] / 1.5 = -3.3333…)
shipLinearMaxSpeedGameSpeedScalar -1.4 ([value] / 3.5 = -1.428…)
shipLinearAccelerationGameSpeedScalar -1.4 (Or what u prefer, I like it even lower
)
shipLinearDecelerationGameSpeedScalar -1.4 (Or what u prefer)
questCompleteHappinessDeltaScalar -0.56 ([value] / 9 = -0.5555…)
cultureConnectionReferenceLength 160000 (I had to make a reasonable slump on this one. Not too fast not too slow)
researchRateGameSpeedScalar -33.5 ([value] * 6.7 = -33.5)Last I have also changed
rebellionInfo so I wont be attacked of rebels so often now my game speed is slowed down. These 2 I have change (note these you find 2 places - just a little after the first two)
minTimeBetweenAttacks (to what you prefer. Is in seconds)
maxTimeBetweenAttacks (to what you prefer. Is in seconds) That’s it - My own likings are WAY lower than this example, but I’m also pretty extreme

I like the feel out of space and the feel of loooong distances + extended research/build times.
Workaround – own background musicThere are so many different tastes – we all more or less different

I like background music spacey so I have the feel I’m out in space. Therefore I have taken the best IMO space background music from some space games I own. I’m really funned of Haegemonia Soundtrack - Human Background Theme 8.mp3 and also some from X3 Reunion - but hey that’s just me

I have used Windows Movie Maker to split some music files and compose them into my likings. You can do the same, width some imo fun work. Now we have a little problem - Movie Maker cannot save in *.OGG file-type so you have to convert your file/s.
Here’s a link to a free converter:
WWW LinkYou can only do 2 converting at a time then you have to close the program and open it ones again - but it’s free

and this program can convert MP3 and WMA files into OGG (just for now name your OGG with something useable) and the other way around. When you happy with your music then do the following (Remember, make a backup first - right):
Open Sin folder Sound (my computer: C:\Programmer\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire\Sound). If you only have one music file you want to hear all the time it’s pretty straightforward, you just have to make 70 copies of your own file - Now copy following filenames and overwrite your own music OGG file/s filename:

I would have give my own composed music here but I might not – I think this would conflict with license regulations.
That's all folks – hope this is some help for someone

Please feel free to contribute with your own workarounds if you have any.
