I posted about this back in September, but considering how that post is buried under thousands of others, and how we are now much closer to the release date, I thought that I might as well restate it all.
Hello! I am in the early parts of making a modification for Sins of a Solar Empire (otherwise, I would not be posting here.). I have been thinking about this mod pratically ever since I first heard about Sins, in early '07. My goal is to take the fatasticaluberwonderness of Sins, and put it into a story of my own making. Not that I plan to have a single player campaign, just that there will be different races, and certain aspects of the game play will be alter anywhere from slightly to significantly.
The basic story behind this mod is one that I have thought up, through great influence from too many sources to remember. Suffice to say, there are three races that have been manipulated into conflict by a third, particularly evil race. There is the Commonwealth (the humans); the Fath, remnants of an ancient empire; the C.I.s, robotic beings responsible for the fall of the ancient Fath empire; and the Hak'na, the puppeteers hiding behind the scenes. All four races will be playable upon final release.
I hope to be able to change the systems so that instead of each stellar and planetary body having its own individual playing field, the entire solar systems will be available for travel. The only time the "hyperdrive"s might need to be engaged would be during interstellar travel.
As it is, very little progress has been made. My only skills that I bring to the table are my creativity, my (basic) drawing skills, and my 3D modeling ability. Essentially all that I have accomplished have been backstory, a webstite (link below) and some models.:
