enough economy?

I'm still on my first game. Playing small map have 2 remaining opponents (1 surrendered)on challenging I believe. I've played another 4x game in the past and I always find myself trying to have the best economy. I like to be stonger in the late game, of course i wind up having a weak military for a long time.

Since i'm quite new at this game I was wondering if i may be over doing it. I'm currently making over 400 BC (about half from my 10 trade routes) a week and i have like 20,000 BC in the "bank". Is this good, well of course its not BAD, but i mean, should i be focusing on something else? am i overdoing it?

I do like being able to quick build stuff without batting an eye though if the need arises. In this game I'm stating to build ships that are better than anything the AI is putting out. What is considered a good economy?

In any event, I just don't think that my rank has has anything to do with me being one of the best players. I just don't think that is true. I am a good player, but I don't doubt for a second that there are tons of players equally adebt if not more adebt at this game.

There are probably a *few* better players out there but they probably be can be counted on one hand (sort of fits with being currently ranked 5th). You'd certainly be ranked similarly in the AltMeta except you're not included because you're not in a empire. I think scoring in the AltMeta is slightly "fairer" than the real metaverse because it doesn't penalize you for the number of games you've submitted.

Also we'll be introducing brackets into the AltMeta to allow folks to complete based on galaxy size and victory conditions. I recommend that you join an empire, there are a lot of good ones out there. Although with the scores you post I would suggest helping out one of the smaller ones. I'd give you some likely cadidates but I don't want to prejudice your opinion. Look around, they're easy enough to find.

I would say the Metaverse scores' correlation with playing ability is about the same correlation as winning a game of Horse and your basketball playing ability. There are old men who can beat Michael Jordan at Horse.

P.S. And it's not sour grapes. When I played Civ3 I submitted 3 high scores by beating Deity on Tiny maps and pop-rushing warriors out, and crushed everybody before 500B.C.. It took not even one evening to do, and I wasn't even trying for a high score. Everybody looked at my saved games and were like, "Wow, how in the world did he get a high score? It's only a Tiny map and his empire is completely in shambles."

You are certainly welcome to your own opinion. It's just that I simply don't share it.

P.S. While your statement may be true I would personally bet large sums of money on Jordan, you can even pick the old men (just as long as neither is Bird or Magic).
