Yes there does appear to be a top limit on the jewelry now.
i haven't been able to figure out if it's jewelry per ship, polys per ship, polys per game-in-progress, if it's a hard-set limit or based on available memory, if it's by design, etc. i'm sure it's not jewelry specifically, though, but any 3D ship components. i first noticed the problem while playing a test mod to see how messing with miniaturization might change the game dynamics. i hit the limit after putting about 50 basic mass drivers on a large hull with relatively little jewelry.
Is that why some of my designs now look all funky. That huge container ship of mine doesn't look right anymore. And I know that it had ALOT of pieces
yes, and further the 'funk' grows exponentially worse as you add more pieces. what's bad about that IMO is that sometimes when there's only minor graphical funk, i don't notice it until i've built 250 of the ship and can't afford to upgrade them to something that looks good.
