The Range Situation

Can the Range of things be editied without handicaping AI?

I dont like the range factor in the game its just to easy to travel far and have good ship sensors. I did modify the support to give less range and changed sensors the same way but I am worried it will handicap the AI.

Is there any mods out there that does this right?

I wish Stardock would create an option to have less range on both ships and ship sensors.

I believe there are mods for that cut range. (but also have other things)

I too wish stardock would address this. As it is now, range is not much of an issue. (it's too easy to get around) I enjoy playing metaverse, so I'm stuck with what's there.

Play on a huge universe with sparse planets then? Only problem is, huge is as huge as it gets, so there'd be a lot less colonies and a lot less going on in general.

...And on the gigantic maps, the problem is the exact opposite--the hard-coded caps keep you from getting enough range.

No, they just make you build a few starbases for supporting longer distances.
