In the game I am currently playing, I got a Precursor Mine on my homeworld; and then the second planet I colonized had... a Precursor Mine.

The third planet (PQ18) had three different Precursor Artifacts (300% Research) tiles. That's by far the earliest I've ever found a clear-cut Technology Capital.

That's because you don't know what you're doing.

Look I am not saying that you need to buy everything and I do know what I am doing okay.
That is why at many points in my early game I have somewere around 1000 bc in excess and manufacturing and 100% most of the time and get techs every few turns.

If you only buy your very first ship (not for small galaxy's) you will still grab enough planets to be economically self - sustaining. To buy everything all the time is a useless waste of money and you only need a few factories to produce efficiently.

Paranoia of losing great planets is what rush builing is for.

They never write us or speak with us. Have never seen this probably amazing source of goodness!!

Looking at your screenshot, I can tell you to lower your research spending to zero and put it all in social and military spending. Once you get the first couple of buildings (need that 100% morale bonus, of course) focus on Research. The conversion of your manufacturing capacity to research is not particularly efficient, but since your manufacturing capacity is roughly eight times as much as your research, you actually get more research by turning your research spending to zero and then focusing on research to leverage your enormous manufacturing capacity for tech development. This also has the advantage of helping your other colonies build their initial buildings much more quickly.

You don't need to acually change anything at all if you don't want to I don't and beat the AI's to all the good planets and outclass them in reseach every game.

Don't listen to this idiot or the other idiot's just me i'm not an idiot just to good to say i'm wrong but you do what you feel is right wade. Trust your guts not what others say and burst our bubble with your own tactics.

Actually with that homeworld setup, the first thing I would do is purchase the lab and micromanage the sliders for the first dozen or so turns to make sure you get the best out of research.

Set spending to 100%, tax to 12% (this ensure 100% moral until you build Entertainment...very important as your pop growth doubles anything 99% moral or below.)

Next turn buy the Factory, then build Farm, Entertainment (then set tax to 30%),3 Markets and another Lab in that order.

Research, Xenos Lab, then the first 4 Ship drives, Cartography then Surver scanner.

You should be able to design a Surveyor with a Hulk hull, survey scanner and enough engines to get 12 speed. Also can then design a Colony ship with 8 speed and constructor with 6 speed.

You can then rush buy 4-5 Surveyors then go hunting for anomolies and exploring to the limits to find good planets and then send your fast colonies to expand your empire...target furtherst planets first. You should be able to expand your outer limits quickly and finance your empire with cash from anomolies until your emire can get a positive cash flow.

Theny try to get to the borders of the other empires as fast as possible as they dont grab the anomolies very quickly using just their initial survey vessel with speed of 3.

Well I'm checking back again...Thanks El Conquest...and others. I know that many of us have experienced a game like this already. It's fun to recount them to others though.
Also I do design Surveyer ships using a Cargo hull. The one hit point does not matter. They have no weapons and will not need to fight.

I've already got a Class 26 a few systems away and several nearby class 17's,18's, and 19's and others.The three opponents I've met Barely have 2 or 3 planets, no ships,and very low technology.

I'm in a gigantic, 9 opponents,tough/intelligent,scattered,all abundant,normal research,...did I miss any thing?
