After eary expansion as far as I could go I have my "empire" staked out. I'm running in the top end of production and research and bottom end of military. Sending scouts out shows everybody has staked out their own sectors and the map is for the most part set. [ I'm playing normal setting ]. After checking the other civ's out I see military victory is out of the question and trying to take planets by building influance starbases didn't work I am going for a tech victory in which I am on the near omniscience level with 52 turns to go. So I may or not make it. Thats why they call it a game so thats not the problem.
The problem is this has turned into a really boring game. I have good relations with 5 of 6 civs but nobody wants to trade tech even when I offer much more then what I'm trying to get is worth. All they have to trade is weapons stuff since I have most of what I need social, finance and research wise and they never want to talk to me first. Most of my planets are pushing 60 percent approval or better. All I'm doing is building war ships and constructor ships for my starbase add ons and tweaking my planets for more research.
So is this it? Do I just continue for another 100 turns or so or until another civ wins another way? I'm thinking of starting another game. To me this is a weak build on the diplomacy platform. There should be a deeper interaction with the other races to keep you on your toes while your trying to reach the end or someone should start a war seeing I am closeing in on a victory. On the relation report it says the civ is too busy to start a war . What are they doing that I am being excluded from. Since I am on a low military level if I start a war I might as well end the game because the nearest civs fleets are twice as big as mine and it would turn into a sequel of Germany's defeat in WW2.
Would starting a new game on a harder level make it more interesting? Seems the only solution but only if the AI takes a more agressive stance as far as interaction which is one reason I bought the game. But I don't want to spend a bunch of time on a new game to end up with late game dodrums. Feel free to send reports on the AI abilities on harder levels.
