This happened to me twice in version 1.0 as well. Everything is going fine for some time. Then when moving a ship, each single tile move results in a simultaneous zoom out on the map until eventually the whole map collapses into a single indeterminate graphic in the center of the screen with everythng else black as shown below. The normal map is gone forever.
(N.B tried to paste it here from my graphics program but it was not possible! Anybody know why?)
I did not make any adjustments in the interface dialogue. I am normally in default map position, but the zoomout looked more like an angled view in the most recent case. I do not recall if that was true in the earlier cases of collapse. I have found no way to return back to normal. I have to open a previous save to continue.
I have tried compensating by zooming in again after each tile move, but the damage seems to have been done and eventually I always get a map collapse. I once opened the last autosave only to find the same graphic, making the game unplayable. Other screens work normally usually, However, in this most recent case, clicking in the minimap threw me into a freeze and I had to ctrl-alt-del to get out.
Has anybody else experienced this map collapse?
By the way, the "can’t find a TGN serial number" is always in my debugg.err file for some strange reason. Best to ignore it I suppose.
I have no idea how to reproduce this bug. As far as I know, I did nothing unusual prior to the collapse.
