amen to that, the new starforce is gonig to be even worst...
"It looks like Starforce is ready once again to get some more eggs thrown at it, along with a couple of rocks. An article well-hidden on cdfreaks.com reveals what seems to be the latest fashion in driving the customers mad. It would seem that the copy protection system installs a driver "that gains RING0 access (the highest level of access to your computer)". The bad thing is that the Starforce driver runs all the time, regardless of whether the game runs or not. So, if this driver detects, at any given time, a "suspicious" activity, it would force the computer to immediately reboot. Had some unsaved work? Were you doing something important? Did you have other application running at the same time? Well, you don't have to worry about it now. Nice, huh?
But wait, there's more. Nevermind the fact that this "instant reboot" occurs even if the game Starforce should protect is not involved. The worse thing is the user is not informed he has "willingly" installed such a feature. As much as Starforce is concerned, people could bash their heads against walls as much as they'd like, while trying to figure out what's wrong with their computers."
