The in game modles have 512 textures, This is as big as we could do and still be sure that the average video card will support the game.

Most of the textures in the game were done in a scaleble vector format, and can be regenerated for the game at any size. We are hopeing to do a High Res texture expantion, or patch, eventualy as higher end cards become the norm.
We would like to make the default texture size 1024 at least. We have done some experaments here with 4084 textures ad they look sooooo cool. but they would brake most systems out at the moment.

For the moment I am going through the existing ships and pilishing them up, in some cases retextureing and remaping them. For a future update. Cant say when that will be yet however. Im not even sure yet.

Would it be problematic to have an option for this in the video settings? You could even have a big scary dialogue pop up when we select 4096 textures or something I'm looking forward to the higher res textures (will probably be uber cool on my 23" 1920x1200 screen)
