I'm also not sure about the comparisons between the two games.They are very different apart from being turn based.In my view GC2 is pure space 4X,while Civ4 is unique in its genre.Alpha centuari was the best Civ game in my view, if only it had CIV4 A.I.

Civ4 was alright. I played it for a while, but it never really held my attention very well. It's system just wasn't as fun as GC2. I can't stop playing GC2. It's becoming a problem.

4x mean explore, expand, exploit, exterminate I believe. It's the genre of Turnbased strategy that GC2 falls into. The gameplay is structured around those 4 elements.

Civ4 doesn't run well on any of the machines in my house.. GC2 runs perfectly fine on all of them.

So, GC is getting much more playtime . Plus, I have yet to play a complete Civ4 game in three hours.

I really liked Civ IV and put a fair amount of my hours into it. Currently in Gal Civ 2 I am playing the campaign and wondering if I wouldn't be having more fun if I weren't.

I really thought I would enjoy the ship building but find it terribly difficult to do. Every time I try to put wings or whatever else on a hull I can never get them at the same angle or things of that nature.

Anyway, currently at least it is A.

I loaded Civ 4 played a couple of games but it feels like something is missing from it that I can't put my finger on.

Now Gal Civ 2 has kept me up till 4am everynight this week since I got the game on Monday. I would say my weekend would be spent playing but at this point I'm pretty sure it's going to be spent sleeping! In fact, I'm ready to go comatose when I get off work today...hmmm....ok, well maybe, after a couple turns ... I 'm trying to blockade the Drengin, just need a little bit more time... then I can sleep...

I'm playing more WoW than anything, which is kinda sad. WoW is one of the best games ever for the most part - in terms of raw gameplay it's amazing (til you hit 60 and the game turns into EQLive) - but, WoW has, on average, the lowest quality players of any game, sport, event, or humanity in general - ever. The immaturity is almost unbelievable. I guess I could consider it amusing - but it's actually not even funny - just pathetic. And the saddest thing of all is that the worst players in online games aren't young kids - they're college students and otherwise educated adults who are ACTING like idiots because they're hiding behind anonymous avatars. By some twisted turn of logic acting like a complete moron has become not only acceptable, but something to strive for in MMORPGs. It's crushing. Anyways...

I was anxiously awaiting GC2 - I'm picky about games and desperately need something worth playing to get me away from WoW - I must be gaming in some form at all times - it's bred into me or something, preordered GalCiv2 (first game preordered ever due to the ability to preorder and DL, but I've been somewhat put off by AI foolishness ("intelligent" AIs suiciding tranpsorts and the like) and some bugs that really bother me. So, I won't fully dive into GC2 for another patch or two, which is a bummer but that's just how it is for me personally. I'll play some GalCiv2 this weekend if there's another patch today (crossing my fingers).

I got Civ IV on release day and played it to death for the first few weeks. I don't play it at all now, BUT, with games like Civ or GalCiv this is how it goes for me. I play it for a few weeks instensely then don't play at all for a while. With their high quality gameplay, fun factor, and replayability I always come back to these games, unlike a lot of other great games that have limited/no replay value that I play thru once and shelf forever.

I know I'll be back to Civ IV, and I know I'll have many rounds of GalCiv.

I stopped playing Civ4 after I played through a game and I bought the game as it released. Just too similar to 2 (I skipped 3)

A. I stopped playing Civ4 long before GC2 came out. I just wasn't hooked as i was with CIV3. Now i'm hoping that in the future CIV will be greatly improved so that i can play both.

I've stopped playing Civ4, for the most part, thanks to the AI in GC2. GC2 has a much more immersive feel to it and really helps you get into your role as galactic leader. The AI is good enough that you start to develop a genuine fondness or dislike for certain races (particularly the minor ones), based on their actions and reactions to your diplomatic sessions. The UN and Senate options add another layer of immersion that is just too cool. The best part is that I've barely scratched the surface of this game. This is easily the best strategy game I've purchased in a LONG while.

Though, admittedly, after the newness of GalCiv II wears off, I'll probably revert to B. They are both excellent games, and it'll depend on what I'm in the mood for. Since I love the ship customization, it'll mostly be Gal Civ II,but there are times...
