Selling GALCIV2 Engine

This may be a stupid question, but since you guys made the GAL CIV 2 engine so mod-able, are you planning on selling it to third parties? There may be some people interested in making 4X type games with the engine you have already created.

It's hard to say.  There has been talk about breaking out the 3D engine / DesktopX portion and making that available to developers.

The 3D engine alone would be pretty nice, if offered in a Garage Games-like deal.
Their original Torque had a minor fee for indie developers to play around with it,
and you had to redistribute the game through Garage Games. Once you passed a certain
number of total sales, you were no longer indie and would require the larger, more
expensive license that gave you total control.

It's pretty much the same now, except you have full control even with the indie
license, until you start selling it big

You could be lazy and release enough specs that the community could make all needed
tools related to it, of course
